Attorney J. Chris Bristow joined the law firm of Critton, Luttier & Coleman in 2013. He is a trial lawyer who practices in the areas of personal injury, wrongful death, insurance litigation, legal malpractice, business litigation, and complex commercial litigation. Prior to joining the firm, he worked in the Tampa and West Palm Beach offices of one of the largest defense firms in Florida, which gives him a unique advantage in handling all types of cases throughout the state.
Mr. Bristow is Board Certified in business litigation by The Florida Bar and represents individuals, businesses, and professionals in all types of disputes. Since joining Critton, Luttier & Coleman he has tried personal injury and commercial litigation cases to verdict. He has also conducted evidentiary hearings in both state and federal court involving non-compete, non-solicitation, and restrictive covenant issues.
Mr. Bristow represents individuals who have suffered injuries as a result of someone else’s negligence, including automobile accidents, motorcycle accidents, bicycle accidents, trucking accidents, slip and fall, and wrongful death. He takes pride in pursuing the at-fault party to pay for his client’s injuries and other damages.
Mr. Bristow is one of a select group of Florida attorneys who are Board Certified by The Florida Bar in business litigation. There are less than 240 Board Certified business litigation attorneys in the entire state of Florida. Mr. Bristow handles all types of business litigation including shareholder disputes, derivative actions, defamation, contract disputes, easement and property disputes, physician-practice disputes, non-compete agreements, and RICO claims.
Mr. Bristow also handles all types of legal malpractice claims. Since joining the firm, Mr. Bristow has successfully defended over a quarter of a billion dollars in legal malpractice claims. He, along with Robert D. Critton, Jr., successfully defended a prestigious law firm in a high-stakes 160-million-dollar legal malpractice lawsuit, which resulted in a complete dismissal with prejudice. Mr. Bristow later obtained a final summary judgment in favor of a law firm in a another high-stakes legal malpractice claim where the alleged damages exceeded $100 million. Mr. Bristow also represents individuals and businesses in legal malpractice actions who have been wronged by their attorney’s negligence.
Mr. Bristow also enjoys representing individuals and businesses in insurance disputes. He has helped clients obtain multi-million dollar settlements of first party insurance claims, including claims where the insurance policies were rescinded ab initio for material misrepresentations.
Mr. Bristow earned his Juris Doctor from Stetson College of Law and his Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Sciences from the University of Florida. While at Stetson, Mr. Bristow was an assistant editor of the Stetson Law Review. He was also a member of Phi Delta Phi legal honors fraternity as well as a Stetson Ambassador. In addition, Bristow studied abroad in Granada, Spain.
Mr. Bristow is licensed to practice law in all Florida state courts as well as the Northern District of Florida, Middle District of Florida, and Southern District of Florida.
